FAQs: Helpful Questions and Answers
Q. What do you mean by "Spiritual Health"? And does this program have anything to do with religion?
"Spiritual Health" is a term that embraces all spiritual traditions. It refers to our true nature as spiritual beings. We have a spirit (or soul) and an "inner teacher" to guide us. This is the truest part of us—the storehouse of our love, peace, happiness, generosity, and compassion—no matter what tradition we claim as our own. Spiritual health is a way of being in the world that honors this, your true nature, and your unique relationship to the Sacred (God, the All, Highest Self, Universe, Truth, Love). You can follow any religion, uphold any spiritual persuasion, or none and aspire to embody the values of spiritual health. In fact, doing so will strengthen your personal spiritual connection.
"My Spiritual Health" is an interspiritual program. It does not promote nor is it affiliated with a particular spiritual tradition. Cited sources are from the world's wisdom traditions: Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, and Hinduism, Indigenous Traditions, and more. The language and concepts are "spiritual" rather than "religious." As a trained and certified spiritual director/guide, my approach in all that I do is interspiritual; encouraging and affirming people of all spiritual traditions to honor their own tradition while also exploring the wisdom and practices of others. The material presented in this program is also suited to those who are Spiritual but Not Religious, Spiritually Independent, Multiply Religious or identify as "None."
Q. I like the idea of connecting more with my spirit but I am not really sure I have the time to do this.
Ironically, this may be the biggest roadblock to nourishing your spirit: being too busy, believing you don't have or can't take time for yourself and your own spiritual well-being. Through the guidance you'll receive in the weekly "Spiritual Health Adjustments," you will learn how to find the time and/or change your perception about how you spend "spiritual time." The practices presented in this program require actual very little time. It is just remembering to incorporate them into your day and life!
Q. What is in a "Weekly Spiritual Adjustment"?
View the content of the SHAs here.
Q: Is there a Spiritual Health community or group gatherings?
Yes, 4 times each year (once each season during your subscription year), I host a Zoom call. This call will allow you to connect and learn with other people who are enrolled in this program. You will be notified of these calls 3 months in advance as they will fall on various days and times to accommodate people in various time zones. They are recorded if you cannot participate in them "live."
Each SHA is posted on this website in a password protected area. On the weekly SHA page is a Comments area where you can post questions and reflections on your experience of the SHA.
Q. When does "My Spiritual Health" start?
It begins the day you subscribe. You will receive your first "Spiritual Health Adjustment" within 24 hrs. The program contains 52 Adjustments, one for each week of the year, but you can cancel your subscription at any time.
Q. Do I receive personal Spiritual Health Coaching from you when I subscribe to this?
If you are in need of extra support or guidance, I suggest a one-one-one Spiritual Health coaching session with me. This is the very best way to overcome difficulties, navigate roadblocks, and implement the teachings you will receive here. You can learn more about private coaching here.
Program members receive spiritual coaching at a 20% discount, at the reduced rate of $60 per hour. Contact me and we will arrange a time to talk via telephone or Zoom. The session will last 50 minutes.
